On the Move

This past week has flown by. We had our first bottle feed, followed by our first attempt at breast feeding, our first outside visit and first meetings with new grandparents.

It's amazing to watch how fast Rémi has been healing and relearning skills all over again.

We moved from our shared room in constant observation to a private room with a nursing window for observation and have made our final move to a care by parent room.

Care by parent is one of our last steps on our journey home. For 48 hours we will be providing all of the care to Rémi jn hospital, just as we would at home. The only difference is there are still training wheels in that we can ask questions if we need help.

Rémi has been fully weaned off his Morphine, had his PICC line removed and vital sensors turned off. He's completely untethered from the wall and we are fully mobile with him! Our next step is home.

Speaking of home, we are being discharged. Let me say that again WE'RE GOING HOME!

If all goes well I should be sleeping in my own bed with my husband and son this time next week. I have some pretty big feelings about it all and have a lot of processing to do. For now, I'm enjoying this feeling of excitement for the future. It's been a long time since I've been able to look ahead, but Rémi has given me new hope for brighter days.
