8:15am: Getting ready to transport Rémi to preoperative OR

9:30am: Rémi is now in the OR. He will first have a bronchioscope to determine the extent of his trachea issue and determine if he will need both the aortapexy and tracheopexy or if the teacheopexy alone will be enough.

11:15am: First update from the surgical team. The bronch is complete and as we suspected Rémi’s airway requires both procedures for his best chances at keeping it open after his esophogus is connected. It will now be about 3 hours before the next update when they will be nearing completion of the pexys and then are able to start his esophagus repair.

2:10pm: Rémi’s vitals are stable. He's receiving a blood transfusion, which was not entirely unexpected. Surgery is taking longer than anticipated with the first surgeon still working on the aortapexy. The tracheopexy will be next and then the longest part, connecting his esophagus. New approximate timeline is sometime after the dinner hour. More waiting.....stay strong my little warrior.

5:00pm: The Aortopexy is complete! 1 of 3 procedures is done and they are moving onto the other two. The second surgeon got a visual and is confident in her connection of the esophagus once the tracheopexy is complete. Only time will tell. Timeline has been delayed again and looking at around 7pm or later now. 8.5 hours so far and counting.....

7:00pm: DONE.

Rémi's surgery is complete and he is headed to PICU for recovery for the next few days (undetermined timeframe). Today was long, and a full recap will be coming. For now, we are just waiting to be able to see our little warrior and spend some time talking to him while he's sedated.

He's on the road to recovery.
